Hello, chelsea baseball alumni!

A letter from Coaches Adam Taylor & Wayne Welton:
Dear Chelsea Baseball Alumni:
Head Baseball Coach, Adam Taylor and former Head Coach, Wayne R Welton, are reaching out to the alumni of the Chelsea Baseball program to inform you of a project that has been in discussion, planning and research, and fundraising for about one year now. The baseball and softball communities, as well as other sport programs (football, lacrosse, field hockey and soccer) are in need of an indoor training space to enhance, develop, and train our student-athletes in and out of season. As a result of this need, several community leaders have been working tirelessly to seek out donors, to devise a building plan, to discuss the size of space needed, and to find a location for this building.
This indoor building is being planned for turf space, for batting cages, and for individual and small group instruction. This building will be a tremendous addition to the facilities that are already a source of pride among all Bulldogs. John Daniels, current Assistant Softball Coach and a Chelsea Baseball alum has spearheaded and led the donor contributions and commitments. John is the current President of Chelsea Lumber Company. This project has been approved by the Chelsea School District, the Board of Education and the Chelsea Athletic Department. Director of Athletics, Brad Bush has been involved from the first discussions and is in full support of this privately fundraised project. Head Softball Coach, Jeff Connelly and Head Baseball Coach, Adam Taylor have also been integral to the planning. Community member and architect, Fred Vasquez has provided schematics and his expertise as well.
The alumni of the Chelsea Baseball program are loved, valued and forever in all of our hearts. Championships won, Florida based spring training trips, time spent together on and off the ballfields, at weddings and funerals, and sometimes just seeing many of you around town remain special to all of us. The competition, the wins (and losses), the lasting and lifelong friendships made, the lessons learned, and tears of elation and disappointment shared, are what has bonded us for the past 50 years. The highlight of our lives continues to be when we receive a text, a hand written letter, or an unexpected meet with any alumni, any teammate, and former player or coach. Coaches Taylor and Welton are proud alumni of this incredible Chelsea Baseball program. Both have come home to keep the traditions of the program alive and thriving. We have so enjoyed seeing many of you at alumni golf outings, at casino trips, and at ball games at our incredible Chelsea Baseball complex. To a person, you all are important to us.
The fundraising work done to date has received around $1,700,000 in pledged donations. John Daniels has done much of this work behind the scenes. We are forecasting that the project costs are in the $2,000,000 range. As we now head to the top of the ninth inning in our efforts to fundraise, we are calling out to our Chelsea Baseball Alumni for your support. Any level of support is appreciated. We understand that everyone’s ability to give and give back is different. Any donation or check is important to this cause. If you have questions regarding this project you can reach out to Adam Taylor (734-323-7297) or Wayne Welton (734-320-6588) at any time.
We thank you in advance for your support of this project and your commitment to making the Chelsea Baseball program and athletic department the envy of all. We are excited about this project and the numerous developmental opportunities for our baseball families and all future Chelsea athletes.
Sincerely,
Adam Taylor Wayne R Welton
